Some views of Lincoln city
We have been away on holiday to Lincolnshire for a week and spent a couple of days in Lincoln City centre. While we were there I spent lots of time taking pictures with my Fuji X-T1 mirror-less fitted with both the 18-135mm zoom lens I purchased with it and my Tamron 10-24mm pentax k-mount super wide angel lens.
A selection of the pictures I took are included below.
Pictures of Lincoln City
We found Lincoln to be a very beautiful city with just the right mix of modern facilities such as restaurants, shopping and leisure facilities intermingled with historic buildings and interesting sights. Although I don’t like driving in cities I don’t know very well, we were lucky that a very good friend of ours was able to take us into the city for the first time and I found it is also easy to get right into the centre of the city and easily find parking.
I also took some colour negative film and colour slide film pictures using a Pentax MZ-3 and MZ-M, and I will publish the best of those pictures later once I have developed and scanned them.
These bring back memories. i spent a week in Lincoln in 2011. Stayed in Danes Cottage, just off Steep Street. Every morning at 6:00 a.m. I’d hike up to Lincoln Cathedral and spend hours making photos of the light streaming through the windows and onto the floors and pillars. One morning the priest, is that what they are called?, came out and saw me with my Hasselblad 500 CM and said. ” how nice, a real camera.” He then told me if I’d like to leave a donation that he’d be happy to take my camera. Because I spent so much time there I was given private tours and allowed in hours before opening time. I’ll never forget that week.
It is a beautiful city. While we were in the cathedral I saw the coloured light streaming in through the stained glass windows and took a couple of shots but to get proper access is now about £40 for the family and it was quite late in the day so I just took a few shots from the public area. We have friends who live just outside the city so I’m sure to visit again and hopefully do the full tour.
