Ricoh GXR Leica A12 Macro pictures

Today I want out with my Ricoh GXR Leica A12 camera, fitted with a Tamron 90mm Macro lens, to take some macro photos on a piece of waste ground at the bottom of our street. This is a fairly common occurrence at this time of year, when the weather is nice, but I found it a bit of a frustrating experience.

Normally, I can set whichever camera I’m using to manual focus and use the focus peaking mode of the camera to allow me to quickly acquire the correct focus and shoot, but today I had considerable trouble getting focus and holding it because I found I had quite a few problems with balance.

I’ve actually had problems with my balance since I had a car accident when I was 12 years old. A car mounted the pavement and hit me, leaving me in hospital for two weeks with a fractured skull, and because of the fluid I lost at the time I’ve always had slightly poor balance but it hasn’t affected me as much as I noticed today.

I found that to counter this problem instead of my usual habit of only using one eye to focus and keeping the other closed, I had to keep both eyes open and focus with one whilst keeping the rest of the scene visible to stop myself swaying around. Sounds weird, but it actually works!

Anyway – I didn’t get any really good pictures, but the best of the ones I did get are shown here.
