Favourite pictures – my Daughter Emma
This is a picture of my daughter Emma which I took during a recent trip to York Minster.
I had been taking some pictures of the rail that she is posing next to using a Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens fitted on my Camdiox focal reducer and Sony Nex 6 when she jokingly tried to get into the picture by jumping up into shot. I asked her to stay there for a minute and took the picture to the left which I was very pleased with. Although the normal rules of composition suggest that she should be off centre, I think the rail that she is leaning against helps by leading the eye to the subject and the picture looks good even though the subject is centred. I also like the amount of blur in the background, which is defined enough to give some interest. However, just check which composition would look better I also produced a Lightroom cropped version with her moved off to the left which I’ve also included here. Even so, I still can’t decide which is the better shot!
- Takumar 55mm f/1.8
- Sony Nex 6
- F/1.8 (effectively f/1.4 allowing for the focal reducer)
- 1/100 sec
- ISO 100
