Favourite Pictures – The forge at Kentwell
This is another picture from out visit to Kentwell Hall in Suffolk – this time a tudor recreation of a blacksmiths forge. We had just come out of the restaurant at lunchtime and saw a group of people in a bunch around a small building just outside the stables. When we went to have a look we found that it was the blacksmiths forge and someone was being fitted out with a set of chainmail. Emma was immediately interested and joined the queue to also be fitted out!
Whilst she was waiting I took these pictures looking into the forge. I particularly like the first picture because the blacksmith’s hammer is shown with some motion blur. This was partly by planning, but also partly because it was so dark in the forge I had to use quite a slow shutter speed anyway. Unfortunately, this also shows up a bit of motion in the blacksmiths head which isn’t absolutely steady.
