Hexham Abbey in black and white
We visited Hexham recently and during the visit went to look inside Hexham Abbey. Naturally I had my camera with me and took a few shots from inside the Abbey but because it was dark inside and flash light was not allowed, I took the majority of the shots at 6400 iso.
When we got back and I looked at the shots in detail, although they looked ok I decided that the majority of the pictures looked better when converted to black and white because they were mostly fairly dull images anyway. One image stood out as being really colourful however so I left that as a colour image. All these shots were taken with a Pentax K5 and sigma 18-125 HSM zoom. Each image has the aperture, shutter speed etc in the enlarged version obtained by clicking the image.
The shots were converted to black and white in Lightroom 5, where there was also a small amount of post processing including a small amount of noise reduction applied.
Beautifully composed and processed images.
Thank you Pat
Beautiful images Simon, Hexham Abbey is amazing. I’m hoping to photograph Carlisle Cathedral, this series is a great inspiration.
Thanks very much Simon
