Picture of a Hoverfly on a flower
This image of a hoverfly on a flower, was taken with a Pentax K-r DSLT using a Tamron 70-300 mm Macro Zoom.
Considering the camera and lens involved, I think this is quite a good quality image. The Pentax K-r does not have a sensor of the same calibre as the K-5, and the Tamron 70-300 lens cost me only £90, but at normal image size there is not noticeable noise in the image, and this was taken at iso3200 on a dull August afternoon in the West Midlands in England.
I was wandering round my Mother-in-law’s garden and caught sight of this hoverfly walking round the flower and quickly set the iso up so I could try to hand hold a shot with the lens set to maximum magnification and with the aperture at F9. The actual shot looked quite lifeless, so a fair amount of post processing had to be carried out to lift the colours and wring some life into the image.
