  1. Hi Simon, thanks for the informative write-ups. I’ve just put El Capitan on a Probook 4540s i3, and it’s mostly working. I’ve still no sound though, and the Probook Installer has been retired, so I’m a little nervous about running any of the available versions. Have you upgraded your 4540s to El Capitan (or Sierra) yet? – thanks Chris

    1. Hi Chris – I upgraded it to Yosemite using the guide at tonymac (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-to-install-yosemite-on-hp-laptops-with-clover-uefi.143675/). I had
fitted a new hard drive in place to the cd drive so I did a new fresh install and it actually went better than the original install with the sleep function all working and the SD card reader (which used to cause a hard crash on the previous version). Apparently, I should be able to upgrade by using the upgrade options that the store offers but I haven’t done that because Yosemite works well and I don’t want to risk breaking it!

      1. thanks Simon. I’m also nervous about breaking my mostly-functioning El Capitan installation. I’ve just loaded Logic Pro X onto it an it all seems to work! I’ll try fixing the sound soon, but I’ll probably use an external audio interface if I can’t get around it.
